<p>As I promised in my <a href="https://www.doyouroux.com/watermelon-feta-mint-salad/">watermelon feta mint salad</a> recipe, it is time to make a watermelon drink. Citrus and melon are perfect summer flavors. So here they combine for the best watermelon limeade drink possible &ndash; because we&rsquo;ll add ice to make it a frozen blended drink. What could be better than that?</p>

<p>Cool and sweet with a little bit of sour pucker, the watermelon limeade freeze is a refreshing summer treat. Whip it up whenever the weather outside has started to warm up and it will be sure to cool you down.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img data-recalc-dims="1" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=787%2C602&#038;ssl=1" alt="Lime juice and watermelon ready for the blender" class="wp-image-8371" width="787" height="602" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=1024%2C784&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=300%2C230&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=768%2C588&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=750%2C575&amp;ssl=1 750w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=380%2C291&amp;ssl=1 380w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=760%2C582&amp;ssl=1 760w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=800%2C613&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?resize=90%2C70&amp;ssl=1 90w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg?w=1475&amp;ssl=1 1475w" sizes="(max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px" data-pin-media="https://www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Prep.jpg"></figure></div>

<p>This recipe is simple because you need only four ingredients and a blender to make it happen. And the steps basically boil down to tossing it all in the blender and giving it a whirl. Honestly, the most difficult aspect may be cutting up the watermelon itself. They can be a bit large and unwieldy.</p>

<p>So let&rsquo;s get to it.</p>

<div style="clear: both; margin-top: 30px; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 30px; margin-left: 10px; text-align: center;">
<script async="" src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<!-- DYR - In Post -->
<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5516331037938207" data-ad-slot="5074817803" data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>
<script>
     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>
</div>

<h2 class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading">Tips for Success</h2>

<p>The best tip for success that I can give you is to start off with ripe watermelon. In fact, if you have a good watermelon, you may need less or no extra sugar at all. Try following these tips from Eagle Eye Produce on <a href="https://www.eagleeyeproduce.com/perfectwatermelon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">how to pick a good watermelon</a>. </p>

<p>My second tip is to chill your watermelon beforehand. So cut and cube up the watermelon and then place it in the fridge to chill. For one, chilled watermelon just seems to have a better flavor. So for the few pieces that you sneak before adding watermelon into the blender, you will thank me. Also, it will be that much colder when you blend it together with the ice. It is better to start everything off cold if possible.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=771%2C788&#038;ssl=1" alt="Tall glasses of frozen watermelon limeade" class="wp-image-8365" width="771" height="788" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=1002%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 1002w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=293%2C300&amp;ssl=1 293w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=768%2C785&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=750%2C767&amp;ssl=1 750w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=380%2C388&amp;ssl=1 380w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=760%2C777&amp;ssl=1 760w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?resize=800%2C818&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg?w=1166&amp;ssl=1 1166w" sizes="(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px" data-pin-media="https://www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Side-Glass.jpg"></figure></div>

<p>And finally, try to have everything ready to go after you have blended the drink together. Because it will start melting and separating as soon as the blender stops. Get your glasses out and any garnishes or decorations. Put everything into the blender except the ice and then add the ice and go fast.</p>

<p>If you are having this drink with a meal, make sure everything else is ready to serve before blending the watermelon limeade freeze together. The drink doesn&rsquo;t take long to make, so it can easily be left to the end.</p>

<h2 class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading">Mix Up Your Watermelon Limeade</h2>

<p>One of the great things about watermelon and lime is that they can go with a whole lot of flavors. For variations on this watermelon limeade, try adding any of the following to the mix before blending:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Mint leaves</li><li>Lemon instead of Lime</li><li>Chili Powder (not too much&hellip;)</li><li>Honey instead of sugar</li><li>Cream of Coconut instead of sugar</li><li>Basil leaves</li><li>Blueberries</li></ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="800" height="655" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=800%2C655&#038;ssl=1" alt="Four glasses of watermelon limeade freeze garnished with straws, limes, and watermelon" class="wp-image-8370" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=1024%2C838&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=300%2C246&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=768%2C629&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=750%2C614&amp;ssl=1 750w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=380%2C311&amp;ssl=1 380w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=760%2C622&amp;ssl=1 760w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?resize=800%2C655&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg?w=1423&amp;ssl=1 1423w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" data-pin-media="https://www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Watermelon-Freeze-Overhead-Decorated.jpg"></figure>

<p>Try dressing up your drink with lime wedges, extra watermelon, or <a href="https://www.eagleeyeproduce.com/perfectwatermelon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">fun and colorful paper straws</a>. It definitely takes it up a notch when you think about presentation as well as flavor.</p>

<p>Whatever way you blend it, I know that it will be delicious. So give this a try on one of those hot summer days for perfect sweet refreshment.</p>

<p>For the longest time, I had never thought about doing anything with watermelon except eating it straight. I mean, it is delicious so why would I need to do anything with it. But eventually, my eyes were opened to other possibilities. One delicious possibility is this watermelon feta mint salad with a watermelon dressing.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Watermelon-Salad-Cut-Watermelon.jpg?resize=749%2C565&#038;ssl=1" alt="A bowl of cubed watermelon ready for the salad - put it in the fridge so the watermelon can get cold" class="wp-image-8045" width="749" height="565" data-pin-media="https://www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Watermelon-Salad-Cut-Watermelon.jpg"></figure></div>

<p>Watermelon conjures up images of summer, barbecues, and get-togethers. So this salad takes that to heart and is a simple, refreshing mix of summer flavors to brighten up any spread. This is a light and easy salad. Chop up the watermelon, blend and cook a little of it, mix up the dressing, and toss all the ingredients into a large bowl and mix. It is easily scalable as well.</p>

<p>A lot of the time balsamic vinegar is paired with watermelon because it cuts through the sweetness. But I wanted to really focus on watermelon flavors. So, I attempted a few times to make a watermelon dressing that would really pair with the feta, mint, basil, and red onion. I finally got to a dressing that I like and I hope you enjoy it as well.</p>

<p>It&rsquo;s finally feeling like summer. Pair this salad with <a href="https://www.doyouroux.com/marinated-steak-kebabs-with-chimichurri/">steak kabobs</a> or <a href="https://www.doyouroux.com/grilled-shrimp-and-pineapple-kabobs/">shrimp kabobs</a> for a full summer meal. Watermelon is so delicious I think that I&rsquo;ll have to feature a <a href="https://www.doyouroux.com/watermelon-limeade-freeze/">watermelon-focused drink</a> here shortly as well&hellip;</p>

<h2 class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading">Best Practices for Watermelon Feta Mint Salad</h2>

<p>Cube your watermelon first and put it in the fridge. There&rsquo;s something about cold watermelon that gives it some extra oomph of flavor. Trust me. If you have never done this before, then you have been missing out and it is now time to make the change. And not just for this watermelon feta mint salad either, always try to cube and chill your watermelon before eating.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Watermelon-Salad-Cooked-Watermelon.jpg?resize=657%2C493&#038;ssl=1" alt="Cooked watermelon to be used in making the dressing for watermelon feta mint salad" class="wp-image-8044" width="657" height="493" data-pin-media="https://www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Watermelon-Salad-Cooked-Watermelon.jpg"></figure></div>

<p>Also, when you&rsquo;re cutting the watermelon, you can use a dedicated <a href="https://amzn.to/3vO512e" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">watermelon slicer</a> to help make quicker work of the fruit. It is not necessary and can be cut by hand. I have kind of mixed feelings about these watermelon slicers. They make cutting really easy. But they tend not to last very long. I think the last one we got lasted for like 2 years. But we did go through a whole lot of watermelon.</p>

<p>You will need something to shake together the salad dressing. Do this with anything that has a lid like storage containers or blender cups. A dedicated <a href="https://amzn.to/2TDEwi3" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">salad dressing shaker</a> can also be helpful for storing in the fridge and with making other salads.</p>

<h2 class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading">Always with Options</h2>

<p>Customization is always an option. Never let any other recipe tell you otherwise. For the watermelon feta mint salad, try adding cucumber to the mix for another punch of fresh flavor. Like things a little spicy at times? Then sprinkle a teaspoon of ground chipotle, ancho, or other chili powder over the whole salad. Try substituting the feta cheese out for a different one like goat cheese.</p>

<p>Think about the different summer flavors and try to come up with something else that you want to pair with the watermelon.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Watermelon-Salad-Unmixed-Salad.jpg?resize=779%2C613&#038;ssl=1" alt="Watermelon feta mint salad with basil and red onion on top" class="wp-image-8048" width="779" height="613" data-pin-media="https://www.doyouroux.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Watermelon-Salad-Unmixed-Salad.jpg"></figure></div>

<p>To add more depth of flavor to this recipe, try grilling your watermelon before cubing it. The best method that I have found for this one is slicing the watermelon into 1 to 2-inch thick rounds and tossing those directly on a grill at medium heat. Give it a bit of a char on both sides, 3 minutes each, and then remove it from the heat. Cut it up and toss the salad as directed below.</p>

<p>And like I said at the start, you can also forgo making the homemade dressing for this and instead use a balsamic vinegar glaze as a drizzle on top of the salad. Just add 2 cups of balsamic vinegar to a small pot and cook for 20 minutes or so until thick.</p>

<p>So enjoy all of the flavors of summer in this delicious salad however you prefer it.</p>
